OUR JET DRIVE POP OFF VALVE, AKA THE "BERNOULLI CONVERGENATOR" IS A UNIQUE DESIGN NOT SEEN IN THE INDUSTRY TO DATE. IT WEIGHS 6.6 POUNDS FULLY ASSEMBLED, IS 9-1/2" TALL, AND THE TUBE IS 5" OUTSIDE DIAMETER.
THE KEY FEATURES OF THE VALVE ARE:
- REQUIRES NO MACHINING OF THE SUCTION HOUSING FOR FITMENT (BERKELEY HOUSINGS NEED THE NUB HAND GROUND OFF THE INSIDE OF THE INSPECTION COVER)
- THE VALVE MEETS SANCTIONING BODY MINIMUM OPENING REQUIREMENTS WHILE MAINTAINING A COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT PACKAGE
- THE PISTON SEALS TO THE VALVE HOUSING, AND THE VALVE HOUSING TO THE SUCTION HOUSING VIA A GASKET. BECAUSE OF THIS THE ONLY FORCES EXERTED ON THE MOUNTING BOLTS ARE FROM THE JET DRIVE SUCTION PRESSURE, GREATLY REDUCING THE LOAD ON THE MOUNTING BOLTS.
- THE PISTON IS CONFIGURED SIMILAR TO AN ENGINE PISTON, WHERE THE WALL OF THE POP OFF TUBE ACTS AS A GUIDE, THIS MAKES IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE PISTON TO "ROCK" INSIDE THE TUBE AND SEIZE UP.
- THE PRESSURE HELD IN THE VALVE IS DONE INSIDE THE PISTON, DOING THIS ALLOWS FOR THE LACK OF A NEED FOR AN O-RING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE PISTON, MAKING POTENTIAL O-RING TEARS AND WEAR A NON-ISSUE.
- THE VALVE IS COMPLETELY SERVICEABLE AND CAN BE DISASSEMBLED COMPLETELY FROM THE TOP SIDE WITHOUT UN BOLTING IT FROM THE JET DRIVE. THE ONLY WEAR ITEM BEING 1 O RING.
- THE VALVES COME TYPE 2 ANODIZED IN EITHER CLEAR OR BLACK.
- THE HOLD DOWN IS INTEGRATED INTO THE BASE RING, THUS ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR SEPARATE HOLD DOWN PIECES. THE VALVE SIMPLY BOLTS TO YOUR SUCTION HOUSING.
THE POP OFF VALVE IS ACTUATED VIA 1 #6 ORB (O-RING BOSS/AN THREAD) PORT ON TOP. THIS PORT PROVIDES AIR PRESSURE TO THE VALVE TO HOLD IT CLOSED. WHEN PRESSURE IS RELEASED THE JET DRIVE PROVIDES THE PRESSURE TO OPEN THE VALVE. COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VALVE CAN BE ACTUATED WITH 1 PNEUMATIC SOLENOID VALVE. THE VALVE IS DESIGNED, AND INTENDED, TO RECEIVE CONSTANT PRESSURE FROM THE AIR SYSTEM, THUS REDUCING COMPLEXITY OF THE SYSTEM AND THE NEED FOR A "CHARGE" BUTTON, YOU MERELY HAVE AN ON OR OFF STATE. BECAUSE OF THIS THE VALVE CAN BE CONTROLLED WITH A SINGLE PNEUMATIC SWITCH PROVIDING AIR TO EITHER A PILOT VALVE OR THE POP OFF DIRECTLY, OR DONE SO ELECTRONICALLY WITH A SOLENOID VALVE.
IN THE EVENT YOU MAY NEED TO OPEN THE VALVE IN THE PITS WE SELL A KIT THAT UTILIZES A VACUUM GENERATOR. YOU PROVIDE COMPRESSED AIR ON ONE SIDE OF THE GENERATOR, THE OTHER SIDE IS HOOKED UP TO THE VALVE AND RECEIVES VACUUM. THIS WILL RETRACT THE PISTON WITHIN ABOUT 2 SECONDS FROM APPLYING 90PSI + COMPRESSED AIR. ALTERNATIVELY YOU CAN QUICKLY UN BOLT THE VALVE AND PUSH THE PISTON UP BY HAND VERY QUICKLY AND EASILY.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE PISTON BEING SPECIFIC TO THE SUCTION HOUSING WE ARE MAKING THE PISTONS TO ORDER, THIS HELPS US KEEP COSTS MANAGEABLE SO WE DONT HAVE TO BUY EXCESSIVE MATERIAL. THIS MEANS THERE IS A SLIGHT LEAD TIME FROM WHEN YOUR ORDER IS PLACED TO GIVE US TIME TO FINISH OFF YOUR PISTON AND PACKAGE IT UP.
WE CURRENTLY HAVE PISTON AND HOLD DOWN GEOMETRY FOR STANDARD BERKELEY (2 BOLT), DOMINATOR (3 BOLT), AND JETT PERFORMANCE (4 BOLT).
